About Lower East Side

The Lower East Side, sometimes abbreviated as LES, is a neighborhood located in the southeastern part of Manhattan New York.

At the turn of the twentieth century, the area was known as a place where many popular artists had grown up. Later, more radical artists such as poets and writers of the Beat Generation were attracted to the area, especially to the parts that later became the East Village because the accommodation and food were cheap.
